More Fun and Denton Comic Arts Expo team up for Halloween Coloring Book

Hey More Fun fans, we’re teaming up with the Denton Comic Arts Expo for a very cool project for the 2025 Halloween Celebration and we need community help to make this happen!
We’re looking for artist submissions for a Denton-themed Halloween Coloring Book we’ll be publishing for the crowds this October! Are you a Denton or DFW artist looking to get your artwork in front of thousands of eyes during upcoming Denton Halloween celebrations? Read on for more details and timelines!

The idea is this: Tim, Doc, and Bryan Kelly of Denton Comics Art Expo are curating submissions from a who’s-who of local Denton artists for production of this coloring book project we hope to make an annual Halloween event. Each piece of art selected for inclusion in this 2025 Showcase should include a brief bio and QR code that links directly to their online gallery, shop, or website. Thus, we are creating a coloring book that doubles as a go-to Denton index of top talent around town for commissions, murals, tattoos, T-shirt’s, patrons, concert posters, and swag … Thus a showcase for Denton talent and potentially valuable free advertising for your artistic services or venue!

ARTISTS

Art submissions deadline is July 31 and should include a brief artist bio with a QR code to your gallery, website, or online store. You can send an already completed piece of a Denton-centric B&W line work or some macabre sketch or Tee design or spooky “flash” art that showcases your talents… maybe even more than 1 or 2 pieces since we are curating a specific hyperlocal Denton Halloween vibe to launch.   Also please include a brief statement giving More Fun and DCAE and City of Denton explicit permission to use your artwork submissions for production, promotional, and distribution uses towards this year's More Fun Comics and Games Denton Halloween 2025 Showcase and related events.  To be clear, we are not asking to sign over ownership, simply a statement that we have permission to use the work in promotion. You do not have to create a new piece for this, but are welcome to do so if you choose. Older B&W pieces that fit the theme are great!

But wait… There’s more! Artists selected for this 2025 Showcase will be invited to participate in an Artists Alley Gallery Exhibition  of their original art at a downtown location TBD for the opening reception in the last week of September that debuts the project publicly, thus selected artists are invited to table their flash samples and sell prints or swag in our Showcase Artists Market! More details later.

SPONSOR PATRON OF ARTS SPOTLIGHT

We are also looking for sponsors to help mitigate production costs and gauge order volume, so sponsor-an-artist-page submissions from local business patrons you negotiate to spotlight their or your B&W biz logo with a guaranteed inclusion of your artist and your business as both promotion to advertise yourself as a dedicated patron venue of local art and artists.

Sponsorship starts with the back cover of the book at $300 and then $200 for an interior page that is up front or at back! PATRON OF ARTS SPOTLIGHT will be branded as such and you can also include a website or preferred social media QR code so the tourists and fans can easily find your main handle as an evergreen ad for art fans who zealously support those who champion local artists.

Portions of sales from the Denton Halloween 2025 Showcase will be donated to BINC, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance grants to small comic book shop and local bookstore employees or owners with unforeseen emergency medical, financial, and mental health service needs. They’re great.

Send submissions before July 31 to DentonHaunts@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing what the Denton community brings to the table and are excited to make Halloween 2025 even bigger!
